Blogdex
"Weblogs" are a relatively new method of distributing personal news, essentially an individual's log of activities, news, and thoughts presented in a public manner on the Web. As a publishing medium, Weblogs are ultimately democratic, often as timely as traditional news sources, and have a potential distribution much greater than print media. One problem with these personal information sources is the inability to find an audience. Blogdex is a system built to harness the power of personal news, amalgamating and organizing personal news content into one navigable source, moving this democratic media to a wider audience.

Sparrow Web
The current state of the web is strongly biased towards reading previously authored documents. Changes and additions to the page are solely the purview of the original author. Sparrow Web promotes a different genre of web page: the community-shared page. Like any web page, a community-shared page is originally crafted by a single author, who defines the initial content and scope of the document. But unlike other web pages, a community-shared page can be modified or added to by any interested contributor, and the barriers for doing so are lessened by allowing changes to be made in a lightweight manner. Community-shared pages increase the collaborative capability of the web.

Active Messenger
Active Messenger filters e-mail messages according to dynamic rules, and automatically routes messages to a variety of wired and wireless delivery channels. It observes traffic from a user by knowing which devices have been used to originate or to respond to messages, recent log-ins, and caller ID when checking voice or e-mail over the phone. Its goal is to make sure that desired messages always reach the subscriber, while paring messages down when the user is less reachable.

Collaborative Sensing
Sensor-rich distributed diagnosis, monitoring, and tracking of physical phenomena is achieved by leveraging recent advances in MEMS sensors and networking with applications in distributed diagnosis of electro-mechanical machines and tracking of multiple moving objects such as vehicles. The objective is to develop scalable, generic algorithms and software systems for analyzing distributed sensor data. A detailed page on the DARPA-funded CoSense activity is available.

Visual Who
Visual Who is a tool for visualizing an electronic community. Using data such as mailing list subscriptions, it creates a spring-based model of the patterns of affiliation within the community. By varying the groups chosen as anchor points, the user can explore interactively the underlying social and organizational structures. The goal of Visual Who is to make the social patterns of an electronic community visible.
